THAT'S THE ROOM

WHERE JOHN STENBECK WAS BORN.

ON EAST LAWN BY THE BACK DOOR ENTRANCE WHICH LEADS TO THE KITCHEN. THIS WAS THE FAMILY ENTRANCE WHERE THE DINING ROOM WAS. IT IS NOW THE SERVICE AREA.  THE FAMILY GARAGE WAS TO THE RIGHT IN THE PICT, WHERE THE BEST CELLAR GIFT SHOP IS NOW LOCATED.

FURNISHINGS IN THIS ROOM ARE MOSTLY DONATED FROM JOHN'S SISTER'S ESTATE.  THE SETTEE AND MATCHING CHAIR ARE BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN IN THE PARLOR WHEN THE STEINBECKS LIVED THERE.
